This issue of the Magnetic Resonance Imaging Clinics of North America is dedicated to imaging of the bowel. Of the eight articles in total, two are focused on technical aspects, both the classic and the new modalities that may potentially improve the accuracy of the technique. Four articles review the role of MR in detecting the inflammatory and noninflammatory conditions of the small and large bowel. Finally, one article focuses on the role of MR in imaging and staging of rectal and anal carcinomas, and the last one discusses the role of MR imaging in the assessment of the fistula in the ano.
